Startup programs and services cleanup with HiBit Uninstaller

April 3, 2026

Slow boot and mysterious CPU usage after login often trace to redundant autostart entries—old updater clients, trial antivirus launchers, or OEM bloatware. HiBit Uninstaller bundles startup and service views with its uninstall workflow so you can connect “I removed the app” with “something still launches at boot.”

Inventory before you disable

Open Task Manager → Startup apps and note publisher names. Cross-check with the startup module in HiBit Uninstaller. Disabling an unknown entry is safer than deleting system files, but blind disabling can break hotkey software, GPU overlays, or peripheral utilities.

Services require extra caution

Stopping a third-party service can be correct after uninstalling that vendor’s suite. Stopping core Windows services or driver services (audio, GPU, storage filter drivers) can cause instability. If you are unsure, set the service to manual rather than disabled and observe behavior after reboot.

Pair with uninstall, not replace it

Removing autostart entries without uninstalling the parent app often yields a zombie: the program reinstalls the entry on next launch. Prefer uninstall → reboot → review startup. See features: startup, services, restore and the deep section startup deep dive.

Restore points still matter

Before aggressive service changes, snapshot the system. If login breaks, you can roll back. This matches the recommended procedure in the guide.
